The highlight of any visit to Lalibela is Bet Giyorgis — a magnificent, monolithic rock carved in the shape of a Greek cross, constructed in honour of St. George, the patron saint of Ethiopia. If you have extra time and enjoy hiking, we can also guide you to Ashetenmariam, Nakutoleab, and Yimrehane Kirstos — stunning churches just outside of Lalibela town.

After lunch, explore the Northwestern Cluster of churches, including the iconic Bet Giyorgis.

Day 2 — Saturday Morning

Saturday is market day in Lalibela — a vibrant, colourful gathering where people from surrounding villages come to buy, sell, and trade. A wonderful window into Ethiopian culture.

Day 2 — Saturday Afternoon

After lunch, drive to Yimrehane Kirstos and the Bilbala churches — some of the most beautiful examples of Aksumite church architecture in Ethiopia.

Day 3 — Sunday Morning

Sunday services are held in the rock-hewn churches, and visitors are warmly welcome to join. A deeply moving experience at the Southeastern Cluster of Lalibela churches.

Day 3 — Sunday Afternoon

Walk (or ride a mule) up to Ashetenmariam Monastery for stunning views. Then browse the local art galleries and artisan shops in Lalibela town.

Day 3 — Sunday Evening ✨
